چکیده

Ninety-two dairy cows milking 23 I milk/day at the time of superovulation and belonging to the main domestic breeds were used in this study. Their mean age was 5.5 years and they had calved a mean 3.6 times. In 71 animals the previous calving interval was 369 days, and the calving-superovulation interval was 126 days. The cows were superovulated with 1 500 to 3 000 IU of PMSG (mean of 2 400 IU) on days 8 to 13 of the estrous cycle (mean of 10.7 days), followed 48 to 60 hrs (mean of 52 hrs) later by cloprostenol treatment (0.5 mg). The mean interval from PMSG injection to heat was 4.1 days, and that from the cloprostenol treatment was 45.5 hrs. A total of 6.0 embryos/donor were nonsurgically recovered at the farm on days 6 to 8 (mean of 7.1 days). They were evaluated under a stereomicroscope and divided into the following groups : a) embryos with the appropriate (expected) age (developmental stage), showing no signs of degenera-

Factors affecting the developmental stage of embryos recovered on day 7 from superovulated dairy cattle.

The objective of this retrospective study was to evaluate the factors influencing developmental stage of bovine embryos recovered from superovulated dairy cattle 7 d after estrus. From 217 superovulated dairy cows and heifers, 2,211 eggs were recovered, of which 1,495 were classified as transferable embryos based on morphological evaluation of developmental stage and quality. From the evaluated...

Pregnancy rates of frozen embryos recovered during winter and summer in Sistani cows

During spring, summer and winter seasons, Sistani donor cows, with normal reproductive status, were superovulated and embryos were recovered non-surgically on day 7. Grade A blastocyst embryos were either transferred fresh (spring) or frozen (summer and winter). Recovered embryos during summer and winter were exposed to glycerol and frozen using conventional method. During spring season, recipi...

Bovine Pestivirus Infection: a Cause of Ovulatory Disturbance in Dairy Cows

Twelve (Experiment I) and four (Experiment II) multiparous dairy cows seronegative to pestivirus were selected and randomly assigned to either a control group which did not become infected or a treatment group in which all cows became infected following intranasal inoculation 9 days before AI. The experimental induction of infection was carried out with 2 ml of non-cytopathic pestivirus (BVD ...

The effect of in vitro treatment of bovine embryos with IGF-1 on subsequent development in utero to Day 14 of gestation.

Culture of bovine embryos with insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) can improve development to the blastocyst stage and embryo survival following transfer to heat-stressed, lactating dairy cows. Two experiments were conducted to determine whether IGF-1 could improve embryo survival and development at Day 14 after ovulation. In Experiment 1, non-lactating Holstein cows (n=58) were selected as re...
